HomeMade Dog Toys

Valuable Resource...

Who Else Thinks Dog Toys are
RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE?

WHY NOT SAVE BIG BUCKS AND JUST MAKE YOUR OWN?

Save money, make your pooch happy and stop lining the pockets of pet store chains!

  • Save Big $$ Making Your Own Dog Toys!
  • Learn How to Keep It Safe!
  • Turn Trash into Hours of Fun!
  • Have Fun on a Budget!
  • Teach Your Kids the Value of Making Things at Home!

There is nothing like making something with your own two hands. There is a personal feeling of accomplishment, but more importantly, your canine friend will appreciate the effort.

If your dog is anything like mine, a store bought toy may get a bit of attention for a few moments, but then the toy is ignored for more personal items in the home including, but not limited to, shoes, socks, couches, or even tables depending on the dog’s size.

Everyone knows dogs love to run and chew, and this is natural for any dog. Puppies tend to teethe, and just like children, they will put anything in their mouth.

As a pet owner, you get to offer some acceptable solutions to this natural process, hopefully deterring the teething pup away from the more unacceptable items.

Nonetheless, the pup will choose something homemade over something store bought because the smell from store bought items are nowhere near as appealing as items already in the home.

Making HomeMade dog toys is COST-EFFECTIVE, imaginative, and down right fun. Almost anything in the home has the potential to be a dog toy, and believe me, your dog is well aware of this fact.

When bored, your favorite cushion sure will feel good on those teething incisors, and the smell is simply wonderful!

Those curtains hanging there sure do move nicely and make this interesting sound, and your dog will thoroughly enjoy finding out what is making that sound.

Let’s face it – your home is a cornucopia of interesting smells and sounds with everything you hold dear having the potential to be an enormous dog chew.

Instead of allowing your best friend to envision your belongings as a favorite new toy, or an adversary needing to be ripped to shreds, pet owners offer special toys to their dog. This is how a dog learns what is an acceptable opponent, and what is not so acceptable.

Making homemade pet toys is an ideal method of allowing your dog the benefit of personal scents you naturally add to the homemade item instead of the sterile or mixed scents of those store bought items.

It's Also a Great Way to Teach Your Kids the Value of a Dollar and Inspire Them Creatively!

To Adopt or Not to Adopt?

Here's a great article that I thought I would pass on...hope you find it interesting! –Kim

Top 10 Reasons Dogs are Dumped at Shelters

  1. Moving
  2. Landlord not allowing pet
  3. Too many animals in household
  4. Cost of pet maintenance
  5. Owner having personal problems
  6. Inadequate facilities
  7. No homes available for litter mates
  8. Having no time for pet
  9. Pet illness
  10. Biting

Why Do Shelters Kill?

The connundrum of doing society's dirty work while trying to remain mentally and spiritually intact. Nobody who works at an animal shelter wants to kill the animals that are brought in for shelter. They do it because they see no alternative. They indeed see it as a necessary evil preventing the suffering of millions of animals that would otherwise be abused, neglected or abandoned to starve on the streets.

Shelters across the country accept 6-8 million dogs each year. The inflow of animals is far greater than shelter space, and the shelter resources to find new homes. Shelters that euthanize dogs do so because they believe that warehousing the dogs is not in the best interest of the animals. Every animal deserves a decent quality of life, and living in prison cages over the long term does not support this principle.

People who work in shelters want to help animals – they should not be required to take on the job of killing the creatures they love most. This terrible burden is unfair to shelter workers everywhere who care deeply for the animals and desire to nurture life not destroy it.

No Kill Ethics

No kill ethics embodies a consortium of philosophies that espouse killing of animals is unnecessary.

Redemption is the story of animal sheltering in the United States, a movement that was born of compassion and then lost its way. It is the story of the "No Kill" movement, which says we can and must stop the killing. It is about heroes and villains, betrayal and redemption. And it is about a social movement as noble and just as those that have come before. But most of all, it is a story about believing in the community and trusting in the power of compassion.

How Do I Know a Puppy Mill?

Stop Puppy Mills
When we buy a pet or even shop at a store that sells puppies, we contribute to a heartless underground industry that forces dogs to spend their entire lives in cages constantly breeding to support consumer demand for puppies.

Spay Neuter
Spay/Neuter is the cornerstone of a successful lifesaving effort. Low-cost, high volume spay neuter will lead to fewer animals entering the shelter system.

Why You Should Spay or Neuter Your Pet
By making sure that your pet can't have puppies or kittens, you'll have peace of mind that his or her offspring won't be euthanized in an animal shelter.

What You Should Know About Spaying and Neutering
Every year, millions of unwanted dogs and cats, including puppies and kittens, are needlessly destroyed. The good news is that every pet owner can make a difference. By having your dog or cat surgically sterilized, you will do your part to prevent the birth of unwanted puppies and kittens and enhance your pet's health and quality of life.

The Complete Dog Food & Nutrition Guide

Valuable Resource...

Finally...All You Need
to Know about Your
Dog's Diet and Nutrition

Click below now to watch this short dog food video....

From Sharda Baker
Monday 11 May 2009

Dear fellow dog lover,
We have all heard the "horror stories" about the tainted, and sometimes toxic, dog foods on the market, AND ABOUT ALL THE DOG FOOD RECALLS.

Many of us are aware of the poor quality, sometimes useless, filler ingredients in many commercial dog foods and the dangers of many foods cooked in our homes for our dogs.

Even if you prepare your dog's food at home, there's the danger of feeding the wrong type of food.

They can rob your dog of… IT'S ENERGY, IT'S HEALTH, AND OF IT'S VERY LIFE ITSELF.

You are probably just like me, and like most responsible dog owners, just want the best for your dog within a certain budget, right?

Click Here to Start Improving Your Dog's Health Today

Alarm bells first started ringing for me regarding dog food, several years ago, after seeing the pain an acquaintance, Sonia (not her real name) went through after losing her 2 dogs, one aged eight and one six and a half. One of her dogs died of pancreatitis and one of heart failure, both of which can occur as a result of poor diet.

It wasn't really her fault though...

It's not that Sonia was a bad dog owner, she just did what many dog owners do… And what I used to do, she fed her dog a standard dog food she found in the supermarket plus some regular table scraps.

Like many of us, she didn't understand how to make sense out of a dog food label. On closer examination, the dog food she had been feeding was one of the worst ones available.Simply understanding the label would have alerted Sonia not to use that dog food. Plus, the indiscriminate feeding of table scraps also contributed to her two dog's untimely deaths.

And that was just the beginning for me.

Ever since I witnessed the pain that can be caused by losing a pet at a young age, I started looking into dog food more closely. It's been quite a journey I can tell you. We all recognize deep down that our dog's diet is paramount to good health, just as our own diet is vital to our own good health. Yet, we are often unsure, or at worst ill advised, how to best manage our dog's nutrition.

To Keep Your Dog Healthy, You Must Discover What to Look For, and How to Properly Read and Understand the Deceptive Practices in Dog Food Ingredient Labels.

This information I have put together will show you what some dog food companies don’t want you to know.

I put together the "Complete Guide To Your Dog's Nutrition" ebook and audio package over the last 11 and a half months and inside you'll find:

12 OF THE BEST dog food brands for you and… It informs you of what is actually used in each of the dog foods. And clearly tells you why each of the12 brands are some of the best to feed your dog. It also discusses in depth home cooked dog food, the BARF diet plus much more.

Would you like to know which brands of dog food and which human foods are the safest to feed your dog?

Don’t you owe it to your pet to find out?

Can't we just trust what the dog food companies tell us in their glossy multi-million dollar advertising campaigns?

Unfortunately, often we can't!

I know you are a lot like me and want to be sure you are feeding your dog the absolute best diet… and best foods, within your budget.

All dog food is not equal in their nutritional values and there are many that are downright detrimental to your pet's health.

I have put together all the research that I and my team have carried out over the last 11 and a half months on dog food and health, into one big collection.

Some of the information revealed will shock you! The books and audios cover everything that you need to know about providing the best and most nutritionally healthy diet for your dog. Iran Bans All Dog-related Ads, Walking Dogs in Public

Iran Bans Pet Ads and Describes Dogs as "Unclean Animals"
Aug. 27, 2010

Iranian authorities have banned all advertisements for pets, pet food and other pet products, The Telegraph reported.

The Iranian authorities made such a decision after powerful cleric Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi had issued the fatwa and stressed that, in line with the Islamic tradition, dogs are unclean animals.

The ban on pet ads and products appears to have come as to own pets became popular among Iranian people. However, Ayatollah couldn't accept and come to terms with this love for "unclean animals."

Ayatollah Shirazi declared in June that dog owners are "blindly imitating the West" and that their devotion to the animals would result in "evil outcomes."

Iranian Man Gets 4 Months in Jail, 30 Lashes for Walking His Dog!
Feb. 20, 2008

A 70-year-old Iranian man was arrested and sentenced to four months in jail and 30 lashes for walking his dog, Adnkronos.com reported Tuesday. Police caught the man on the street with his dog in Shahr Rey, a suburb of Tehran.

Owners of domestic animals are forbidden from taking them on the streets of the city because Islam considers dogs to be impure. An Islamic judge later charged the man for "disturbing the public order," Adnkronos.com reported.

Despite repeated warnings by the police, dog owners continue to defy authorities by taking their dogs outside their homes. Typical punishment for people caught with dogs outside is a fine or the "detention" of their animals in a pound, Adnkronos.com reported.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recently provoked debate in Iran about dog ownership when he took possession of four guard dogs, bought in Germany for approximately $161,040 each.

Product Review: Wysong Natural Pet Food

Wysong Epigen Dog & Cat Food

What It Is: WysongPremium, high-protein, starch-free, natural food for dogs and cats (yes, same food for either!)

Manufacturer: Michigan-based Wysong; manufactured in USA

Available: In pet stores and online.

Review: This week, our dogs had the chance to sample some Wysong Epigen pet food. This new food, which just hit the market in June, replaces the starches found in more traditional dog foods with proteins, as they would occur in a natural diet. Epigen joins the line of pet foods and other products Wysong has been making since 1979.

The food, which is patent pending, features 60% protein, 11% fat (min), 3.5% Fiber (max), 12% moisture (max) and 0.4% taurine (min). The taurine is present in the food because this food is designed to be equally appropriate for dogs and cats.

The main ingredients in Wysong Epigen are (in order): "organic chicken, chicken meal, chicken giblets, vegetable proein (consisisting of one or more of the following: potato protein, rice protein, corn protein, wheat protein), poultry fat, eggs, yogurt, flax seed, apple, beet pulp, plums and more."

Our dogs loved their trial of Wysong Epigen. With Wysong Epigen, there is no problem with the dogs and the cats sharing a plate of kibble – a big paw up!

Information from the Manufacturer

WysongWysong Epigen represents the first important kibble pet food innovation in almost 60 years (patent pending) and moves conventional dry extruded pet foods much closer to the high protein meat-based, starchless foods for which carnivores are genetically designed. With that, they are given greater opportunity to enjoy their full natural health. Epigen is equally appropriate for both cats and dogs.

Unique Epigen features:

  • wysongThe first extruded dry diet/kibble pet food (patent pending) that is Starch Free (Epigen does what "Grain Free" pet foods only pretend to do)
  • Contains an unprecedented 60+% meat and organs and over 60% protein
  • More closely resembles the food your pet is designed to eat
  • Has the natural flavor and taste that pets truly desire
  • Is replete with all the critical food elements Wysong was first to put into pet foods – probiotics, prebiotics, enzymes, phytonutrients, nutraceuticals, natural form antioxidants, vitamins and minerals
  • Rich in omega-3's and other essential fatty acids
  • Made in the USA at Wysong manufacturing facilities with ingredients from USDA and FDA approved domestic sources
Editor's Note: Due to the extreme difference in this food from other commercial dog foods, we strongly recommend mixing Wysong into your dog's current food and SLOWLY changing him or her over to the new diet. This gives your dog's system adequate time to adjust to the drastic change.
